Speeding and Stop Signs
Written by Apollo Gibson
Wednesday, 13 August 2014

The HOA BOARD met Tuesday, August 12, 2014 and the FOLLOWING ISSUE WAS RAISED and DISCUSSED by the HOA Members based on community observations and resident feedback.

  • A concern for the safety of our children, our property and total disregard for our 30 mile per hour speed limit and STOP Signs!

The BOARD entertained several prevention solutions including:

  • Neighborhood Awareness – If you see something say something.
  • Speed Bumps throughout our community
  • Filing charges on offenders with Sheriff’s Department (i.e. reporting license plates numbers, make / model descriptions of violators)
  • Pay to have Police Officer monitor and ticket violators

Bottom Line – We as a community are better than this:  We as your HOA BOARD are asking for YOUR help and need a FAVOR FROM EVERYONE!  Help us keep “THE PENINSULA” the coveted place to live by doing the following:

  • Simply observe and obey the speed limit and STOP signs
  • Let’s self-police the Peninsula
  • Take photos or videos of those causing disturbances
  • Get tag numbers of offenders and non-residents with car make / model

We will continue to discuss this issue until it is resolved and we feel as a community we can self-police ourselves and keep THE PENINSULA a safe place to live.  WE NEED EVERYONE’S HELP PLEASE!

Thank you in advance!

Peninsula BuncoBUNCO FEVER

With many new families moving into the neighborhood over the past couple of years, we need to take a look at starting a third couple’s Bunco group.  If you have never played Bunco, it is a fun dice game that requires no skill—just luck.  You can learn all the rules in less than 5 minutes.  If you have lived here for a long time or are new to the neighborhood, we would love for you to consider playing.

Each group meets once a month and participants take turns hosting by providing pre-game snacks or a light meal (sandwiches, pizza, etc.), table snacks, dessert and drinks for the evening (wine, beer, water, and soft drinks).

If you are already in a group and wish to remain, you do not need to do anything.  However, if you would like to join a group, drop out of a group, or would like to substitute, please call 817-573-7395 or email Arlene DeYoung at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it by Sunday, August 24.

This is a great way to meet your neighbors and have a fun evening!   Remember it is just once a month.  Please consider joining in on the “fun”.

Vehicles on Lake Bed
Written by Apollo Gibson
Wednesday, 14 May 2014
The Peninsula HOA board has been made aware of people driving motorcycles and/or ATVs on the dried lake bed, leading to damage to pipes and other infrastructure.  We contacted the Brazos River Authority (BRA) to find out what our options are to prevent this illegal activity in the future.  They did assure us that the use of any motorized vehicle on the lake bed is illegal and that violators who are caught in the act would be given a citation and fine.  Their best advice is to contact them as soon as a violation is observed directly during business hours at 817-573-3212 or contact the sheriff's office during off hours.  BRA will immediately dispatch an officer to the area. They are serious and intent at stopping all unauthorized activity on the lake and surrounding areas.  They welcome our assistance.

At this point, we believe this to be a criminal mischief situation best handled by the proper authorities so the board will continue to monitor it but do not plan to take any further action at this point.  However, we do certainly sympathize with our fellow homeowners and will help where we can as a board.
